What should I expect during a free lawyer consultation?

I scheduled an appointment for a free consultation with a lawyer because I need legal advice for this situation I’m in. I definitely don’t have the money to hire an attorney but would appreciate the advice of one. Am I free to tell him everything and not be pressured into hiring him?

Tell him you didn't get any "free" advice since you had to listen to him carry on about crap that had nothing to do with your case. Then tell him you are going to charge him a fee of $30 for putting up with that. Now you are even.
Seriously, he can try and charge you all he wants. If you didn't sign anything, he can't do anything.

It is unlikely you will find a lawyer that will offer an initial free consultation. Legal Aid usually offers free telephone and consultation advice though they will not represent you in a Civil matter.
You can find a great attorney in your area by visiting and searching by zip code.
I can't believe your messed up Uncle would do this to you…please tell him that you have diagnosed issues, and that you are also a student making good grades, in spite of the abuse you have endured at his hands…tell him about the alleged abuse of your cousin I think it was…and tell him that you don't know how you have kept from attacking the man at all, because of the abusive person he is…tell him about his drug abuse, his theft, etc etc…get all the info you can,…if you have a sheriff's dept website, go to the court section, and pull down the part where it says court services…and put in ;'court index'…then you will find a part that asks for name, etc….do what it tells you to do…last name, for county, put unknown,…for date, let it go back as far as it already says…to current…put criminal, civil, and domestic,etc..and see if yu pull anything up on past attacks, etc..for proof..against him…good luck honey, you don't need this.

I would ignore it, but I would contact the lawyer and remind him of the free consultation and you never authorized anything past that point.
Who knows. Maybe it is a paperwork error.

Some lawyers charge by the hour and some lawyers charge a contingency fee. It is based on how much you win in your court case. If the lawyers charge by the hour. They can only charge you for the time spent in the courtroom and in the office. Usually they charge 100 dollars an hour. Sometimes they can charge more than that up to 400 dollars an hours. My attorney charged me 100 dollars for the consultation fee and then she charged me 2,000 dollars for the work that she did. I won 20,000 dollars in my lawsuit.
Get arrested and you will get to talk to a public defender.
Actually, you can look in the yellow pages, and under attorneys and you will find ads for defense attorneys that you can contact anytime.
